About Amanda Palmer
The enigmatic music of Amanda Palmer is a joy to behold. After having found fame as the front of the massively successful band The Dresden Dolls and a partner in Evelyn Evelyn, Palmer is reaching ever more audiences as a solo musician.
Full name; Amanda MacKinnon Gaiman Palmer was born on April 30, 1976 and comes from Lexington, Massachusetts. From an early age she developed an interest in drama and showed great promise right from her first school productions.
The Dresden Dolls were formed after she met Brian Viglione at a Halloween party in 2000. Blending their music with her love of the theatrical, Palmer invited drama students to perform at their gigs which was to become The Dirty Business Brigade - a permanent fixture to their live performances. The cabaret influenced style combined with the additional performers saw The Dresden Dolls become a cult band.
Palmer developed the act Evelyn Evelyn with Jason Webley in 2007. The pair play Baroque pop as fictitious conjoined twin sisters.
In a blaze of prolific energy, Palmer also struck out as a solo musician in the same year. Her first studio album; Who Killed Amanda Palmer was produced and featured performances by Ben Folds. It was released in 2008.
Recently Palmer has been recording with her Father; Jack Palmer. Their project has seen the pair release a huge collection of cover songs featuring him on guitar and her playing ukulele, piano and an assortment of bizarre and wonderful instruments.
