Outstanding Beth Rowley
All three artists were excellent and Beth Rowley was special. I will aim to see her again. The venue could have done a better job as the noise from the bar was loud. Great evening though

Brilliant
Beth herself is a remarkable singer, blues and edgy ballads. Charismatic too with an easy charm for an audience that likes her, a lot. Stints on the harmonica are cool and pretty well done. Lyrics are rangy, not too repetitive. Poetry really. Accompanied by guitar and keyboard, both played really well.
Supports were excellent too, with Katey Brookes and Tom Forest. Katey is in the same vein as Beth, with her own amplified accoustic guitar and some piano. Wider vocal range. Tom sounds a lot like Tom McRae, who I like too.
None of this was boppy stuff, all pretty melancholic and/or heartfelt. But lovely songs played by lovely people. I'd recommend them all, but Beth especially.
The Islington is OK. Small and intimate, but struggled a bit with the heat, so tried to leave the pub doors open for Beth's slot, which left her competing with a loud ra ra twit at the bar. I got them to close the door!
