THE CULT : DEATH CULT 8323, Foundry, Sheffield - 9th November 2023
Being a massive Cult fan, but a tad young to have seen Death Cult before their demise, this was a bit of a bucket list moment, so much so, I went to both Brixton nights. Right from the off the sound was spot on, lean mean and kept the audience keen. Astbury is still one of the best frontmen, moving and grooving while Duffy wringed out every glorious note from his Falcon! We danced and we danced to the tribal rhythms and for a short time we were all one tribe. 83rd Dream, Resurrection Joe, Hollow Man, Spiritwalker, Rain,Ghost Dance, and Moya were highlights, but to be fair the whole set was delivered with power & passion. The added bonus of Jamie Stewart hitting the stage for Bass duties on RJ and Horse Nation made this gathering even more special. This was not a night of nostalgia but a celebration of music that is still as vibrant 40+ years later. If you could bottle and sell the atmosphere of the two nights at the Brixton Electric, you would make a fortune as it would give you the Highest High! Till next time then!⛈️
