Steve Adam Markowitz started to write lyrics and perform as a young child. But it wasn’t until he teamed up with Samuel Obey, AKA Obey City, whilst in college that he really got started. Taking his childhood nickname Hoodie and making a pun on the infamous arthouse director’s name, Markowitz invented the alias Hoodie Allen. Whilst a student he released Bagels & Beats EP and the Making Waves mixtape. His recordings earned him a nomination on MTVU’s Best Music On Campus Award in 2009.

In 2010, Markowitz started to work alone. He released the song You Are Not A Robot which featured a sample from the Marina And The Diamonds song I Am Not A Robot which shot to #1 on Hype Machine.

Having become an underground hero the time was right to reach a bigger audience. The All American EP was released in 2012 and featured the single No Faith In Brooklyn. It solidified his reputation as a real talent when it shot to #1 in the iTunes album chart and reached #10 in the Billboard 200.

In 2014, he released his debut album People Keep Talking. A massive success for Markowitz, the album shot to #2 in the iTunes charts and peaked at #8 in the Billboard 200 by selling over 30,000 copies in the first week of release alone.

Early 2016 saw the release of second album Happy Camper. Another smash hit for Markowitz which saw him hit #2 in the iTunes album charts.
