Jolie Holland quickly got to grips with guitar, piano and fiddle to begin experimenting with music from a young age. Relocating to San Francisco, she became a founding member of Americana band The Be Good Tanyas.
Following her stint in the band, she began recording solo demos that typically featured a stark sound to accompany lyrics rich in imagery. Pushing the realms of folk forward into exciting new areas, Holland’s new music began to demand attention and was championed by the likes of Tom Waites who nominated her for the annual Shortlist Music Prize which also saw her sign to the label ANTI-.
She has now released six studio albums including Catalpa, Escondida, Springtime Can Kill You, The Living And The Dead, Pint Of Blood and Wine Dark Sea.
