Hardcore punk doesn’t get any better than L.A. five-piece Militarie Gun. Formed in 2020, the quintet consists of Ian Shelton (vocals), William Acuña (guitar), Nick Cogan (guitar) Waylon Trim (bass) and Vince Nguyen (drums).
On June 23, 2023, the band released their first full-length album, Life Under the Gun. The record marked a shift toward richer, polished production and melodic hooks, while still retaining raw emotional power and punk urgency. Pitchfork praised its lush production and Shelton’s haunting vocals, while NME highlighted its melodic hardcore song-writing rooted in heartfelt honesty. The album earned critical acclaim and was featured among NME’s best albums of 2023.
The band’s live presence has been nothing short of explosive. They’ve toured across North America, the UK, Europe, and Australia, supporting acts like Citizen, Scowl, Manchester Orchestra, Public Opinion, Fiddlehead, and more. Their festival appearances include Coachella, Primavera Sound, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Reading&Leeds, and Welcome to Rockville—bringing melodic hardcore to massive, mainstream audience.
