STELLA DONNELLY – ‘Tricks’
Stella Donnelly has released her new song ‘Tricks’ which is an almost deceptively bright and breezy crack at Australian pride racism and absurdity within the music industry. Her huge character shines through on the accompanying video which was filmed in Melbourne and co-directed with photographer Nick Mckk and Sydney songwriter Julia Jacklin.
“This song is a playful zoom-in on the ‘Australian Identity’ and a loose dig at the morons that used to yell shit at me when I played cover gigs on Sunday afternoons. It probably served me right for singing ‘Wonderwall’ every weekend.”
Donnelly releases new album ‘Beware Of The Dogs’ on Secretly Canadian including limited amounts of copies on Green Olive vinyl. The record explores themes of family, relationships and her career through her own unique style and disarming wit.
Stella Donnelly tickets are currently available.
FRANKIE STEW & HARVEY GUNN – ‘Black Water’
Rap and production duo Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn draw influence from classic hip hop, UK garage and dance whilst telling relatable real-life stories to great effect as exemplified on their latest offering; new single ‘Black Water’. The imagery conjured by the sombre sonics reinforces the honest lyrical introspection as they lay their hearts bare.
Its this winning combination of satisfying beats and gritty reality that has attracted support from such big names as DJ Target, Chilly Gonzales and Huw Stephens who have all raved about them on their unmissable BBC radio programmes.
The boys from Brighton are gearing up to release their EP ‘Lakes’, on which ‘Black Water’ will feature, before heading out on tour around the UK in April including dates at Village Underground in London plus Nottingham’s iconic Rock City.
