SINGLES
DEFTONES – ‘Genesis’
Easily standing up the high standard of their past glories, Sacramento space rockers Deftones have just dropped new single ‘Genesis’ – and it’s the epic blast of rage we all need and want!
‘Genesis’ follows the release of ‘Ohms’, their first new single since 2016. Both will appear on the upcoming ninth Deftones album also titled ‘Ohms’ which is scheduled for release on September 25th.
“As the last song on the record, it’s kind of sung in retrospect – it’s looking back not just at the batch of songs that come before it, but our lives and our surroundings. The verses are reflecting, but the chorus kind of says, ‘Yes this, but this‘ – it’s saying that time will change with the decisions we make. It’s a question and an answer.”
“It’s a dichotomy of reflecting on negative things, but coming out of it optimistic”
Make sure you see Deftones when they appear at Download Festival 2021, showing off their latest release plus playing classic hits from their extensive catalogue.
Deftones tickets are currently available.
ALBUMS
ALICIA KEYS – ‘Alicia’
Alicia Keys returns with her most personal and evocative work to date – her seventh album simply titled ‘Alicia’. As with so many during this tumultuous year, the Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter finds herself in a contemplative mood and the introspection feeds into the music which sees a particular spike of innovation on the genre-blending record.
“There is certain points in your life where you do know what you want and then these points in your life where you don't know what you want, or you don't know how to present it properly. In the case of the music, I knew who I was and I knew what was unique and I knew what felt good to me and I didn't want to change it. I didn't want to try to do something that was more commercial”
Catch Alicia Keys when she plays The O2 Arena plus all the UK’s biggest stages during Summer 2021!
Alicia Keys tickets are currently available.
OH SEES – ‘Protean Threat’
Perpetually changing their name, Californian pysche rockers Oh Sees will now forever be named Osees (until they aren’t) and have just dropped the first LP under the new moniker: ‘Protean Threat’.
Unsurprisingly, their latest LP (23rd!!) is a gleefully playful intense explosion of genre-blending noise which melts the ears in a thousand different ways over 80 minutes, touching on post punk, krautrock, art rock, psyche rock, indie rock, alternative rock blues rock and rock along the way.
