Incredible performance!
What an amazing evening! This was the last gig of ‘The Undercover Tour’ and Rob Green and his talented backing group gave everything in a stellar performance.
Charismatic Rob Green had the audience captivated all evening, in the intimate setting of The Kitchen Garden Cafe, explaining the context and background behind some of the songs, leading some audience participation (good job Birmingham) and even performing some spoken word poetry.
Soaring vocals, sweet harmonies and cracking tunes; the lyrics both deeply personal and vulnerable - exploring themes of sexuality, race and masculinity - and yet also somehow universal.
Rob performed songs from his latest EP, ‘Manhood’, as well as some hits from his back catalogue, and a new (as yet unreleased) song which demonstrated what a talented singer he is and signals a bright future.
A mention must also go to London based singer songwriter Emilia Anastazja who kicked proceedings off with a set of her own acoustic songs, and who got a rousing response from the crowd at the end of her support set when she showcased her vocal skills with a beautiful cover of a Beyoncé track.
This was a really memorable, entertaining and enjoyable evening which was also raising some money towards Men’s Mental Health charity, Talk Club.
Check out Rob Green’s latest EP, Manhood, on Spotify and I thoroughly recommend you try to catch him on his next tour.
