About Robert Forster

Brisbane-based singer-songwriter and author Robert Forster. The Australian musician is best known for his work with long-term songwriting partner Grant McLennan with whom he co-founded The Go-Betweens.

His solo studio albums include Danger in the Past (1990), Calling from a Country Phone (1993), I Had a New York Girlfriend (1994), Warm Nights (1996), The Evangelist (2008), Songs to Play (2015), Inferno (2019) and The Candle and the Flame (2023).

Brilliant performance

Great to see Robert live for the 3rd time. He played my favourite songs at the intimate Omeara venue. Between songs he chatted to the audience and comes across as down to earth. Only merch stall I have seen selling Robert Forster Museli (which I bought a box of). Definitely plan to go to his next concert.

Legend

Just fantastic. String of achingly beautiful songs, sung with passion and a real feel for his audience. Nice mix of solo material and Go-Betweens classics. Band seemed to really enjoy themselves and it showed. Nature doesn’t bestow songwriting skills of this magnitude on many!!
