About Slaves
Slaves are the tearaway two-piece band that unites Tunbridge Wells duo; drummer Isaac Homan and guitarist/bass player Laurie Vincent. The pair are known for the good time punk tunes, riotous live shows and being generally pretty sorted. They have just released their amazing follow up album Take Control which was produced by former Beastie Boy; Michael ‘Mike D’ Diamond.
Their first recording was the 2012 EP Sugar Coated Pill released by independent label Girl Fight Records. The release was accompanied by a heavy amount of touring and through word of mouth they developed a cult following. In 2014 they released their debut single Where’s Your Car Debbie? through Fronthill Records which would become one of their signature songs. It would attract major label interest and their second single The Hunter came out through Virgin EMI.
The band truly broke in 2015 as they were nominated for the BBC Sound Of 2015 shortlist and appeared on essential BBC music telly programme Later… With Jools Holland. The prominent televised appearance accompanied a year of heavy touring.
Their first album Are You Satisfied? was released in the summer and hit #8 in the UK Album Charts in its first week of release with Clash Music calling it a “solid debut”. Are You Satisfied? was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize.
It would be followed by their second LP Take Control which was released a year later. Featuring the hardcore single Spit It Out, it would chart even higher and peaked at #6.
Now, they are currently preparing for the release of their highly anticipated third album Acts Of Fear And Love which is certain to be one of the biggest record releases of the year.
