About The Kills
The Kills are an indie rock band made up of Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince. Their music is often minimal in nature, playing hard blues rock riffs through roaring distortion pedals over basic drum machine beats. Scruffy yet stylish, the pair are effortlessly cool and infinitely talented producing amazing garage rock and new wave tunes.
Having both come from previous bands, Hince and Mosshart decided that their new project required new names. The two promptly got drunk and invented the monikers VV for her and Hotel for him. Drawing a line under their previous history the pair began work on their demo in 2001.
Combining style, grit and sex, the pair wowed critics and quickly established themselves as a hot new act. Signing to Dim Mak, they realised the EP Black Rooster in 2002.
First album; Keep On Your Mean Side, was released on Rough Trade in 2003. It saw the two stomp their way through dark psychedelia and dirty back to basics rock and roll with songs like Fuck The People, Kissy Kissy and Wait.
No Wow was released in 2005 by Domino Records and saw the band experiment with their sound.
Their third album Midnight Boom saw the band rise in popularity. Again released through Domino, the 2008 reached #47 in the UK Album charts. They began to make mainstream television appearances with tracks featured in the series Gossip Girl and being invited to perform on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross and Later… With Jools Holland.
Their album Blood Pressures was released after Mosshart had worked with Jack White in The Dead Weather. The album marked another period of experimentation for the band by drawing on Hip Hop beats. Released in 2011 through Domino, the record wowed critics across the board.
Their new album Ash & Ice is set to be released in June of this year. It will feature the absolutely devastating single Doing It To Death.
