About The Loft

The Loft are an influential UK indie band, originally forming part of the mid-1980s "C86" movement, which played a significant role in shaping the sound of British indie music. Hailing from London, the band is best known for their jangly guitar sound, heartfelt lyrics, and their contribution to the rise of the independent music scene. Fronted by Pete Astor, The Loft released their standout single "Up the Hill and Down the Slope" in 1985, which became a classic of the era, showcasing their melodic yet raw approach to songwriting.

Though their initial run was brief, The Loft’s impact on the indie scene was long-lasting, and they have since reunited for various live performances, including a celebrated appearance at London’s iconic 100 Club.
