Excellent gig - a real showcase of up and coming bands. This was my second time seeing the Shimmer Band who ended the evening and did not fail. Full of swagger and rock n roll style an explosion of sound chugging along with beats reminiscent of the 90's baggy scene that just wanted you to shuffle your feet, they filled the room with psychedelic space noises, and the obligatory sing along choruses (shoot me baby, shoot me shoot me baby). These boys deserve to be playing bigger stages so its a case of watch this space.
The other bands were a pleasant surprise Bang Bang Romeo were very polished and the lead singer, to quote my dad "had a terrific set of pipes on her". Black waters were a real surprise a bunch of young pups but displaying the ethos of punk - sounding like they've been delving through there parents punk collection but boy did they entertain, the lead singer lurched his way around the stage and the rest of the club reminiscent of Ian Curtis and snarling like Johnny Rotten this band were full of energy and just made you want to pogo. A great night out if you want to see the cream of the new crop then get your self a ticket and get down the front.
