Whitney are a Chicago-based indie folk-rock duo formed by Julien Ehrlich (vocals, drums) and Max Kakacek (guitar) in 2015. Both former members of Smith Westerns, they joined forces to create tender, soulful songs blending vintage Americana warmth with modern indie sensibilities. Their debut album Light Upon the Lake (2016) earned widespread acclaim for its delicate melodies and heartfelt storytelling, featuring standout tracks like "No Woman" and "Golden Days." Follow-up albums Forever Turned Around (2019), Candid (2020) and Spark (2022) further developed their signature sound, with shimmering arrangements and nostalgic tones.
Live, Whitney have become festival favourites, appearing at Glastonbury, Coachella, and Pitchfork Music Festival, while also selling out headline shows across the UK, Europe and the US. Known for their lush instrumentation, falsetto-driven vocals and disarming sincerity, they’ve built a loyal fanbase drawn to the intimacy of their music.
